Smith & Porter is seeking an energetic Cafe Supervisor for our downtown restaurant. Smith & Porter's goal is to make every meal with culinary creativity. We feature high quality, locally sourced ingredients. Smith & Porter offers a modern dining experience in a casual setting. Our restaurant is just steps from countless attractions including the Stone Arch Bridge, Gold Medal Park, Saint Anthony Falls, The Guthrie Theater, The Armory, US Bank Stadium and other local attractions.

We are looking for team members to  deliver excellent customer service to make Smith & Porter the best place to work and a dining destination in Downtown Minneapolis.

Smith & Porter is re-opening to the public in Spring 2022. We are comprised of a full-service restaurant, bar and café, catering services, and a private dining room, totaling 120-seats. 

Smith & Porter is located in Abiitan, an Ecumen senior community in the heart of the Mill City District of Downtown Minneapolis.  We also support The Terraces, Abiitan's Memory Care and Assisted Living residences, by providing dining services to those who live here.

The Cafe Supervisor is responsible for oversight of cafe operations and meeting/exceeding sales goals. This will be accomplished by ensuring excellent customer service through scheduling and supervision of staff, training and verifying quality standards are upheld and guaranteeing adequate levels of inventory.

Essential Job Responsibilities: 

1. Ensures quality orders are prepared, cooked, and served to guests following consistent recipe standards and compliance with food allergies/intolerances.
   
2. Responsible for excellent customer service and satisfaction.  Guarantee brand standards are consistent for each guest at every visit. 
   
3. Meets/exceeds budgeted sales goals. Confirm thorough data entry into the POS system and provide accurate profit & loss reports.  
   
4. Produces the staffing schedule, supervises, trains and mentors cafe team members to maintain adequate staffing.
   
5. Monitors food and supply inventory levels and prepares the orders in a timely fashion to avoid menu changes.
   
6. Provides back-up coverage to all positions in the cafe, restaurant and housing meal service as needed.
   
7. Ensures team members maintain a clean sanitary work area following established policies and procedures.  Properly operates and trains on the use of the food equipment in the production areas.
   
   
8. Other duties as assigned.
   

Cafe Supervisor

Minimum Required Qualifications: 

• High School graduate or GED
• Serv Safe Certified or equivalent and Certified Food Protection Manager or eligible within 30-days  
• Previous Cafe or Barista management experience      
• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats  
• Able to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to:  Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident’s Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in food service management for seniors
• Previous experience in inventory control, food cost analysis, menu planning, event planning.
