    Abiitan, an Ecumen community located in the heart of the Mill City neighborhood of Downtown Minneapolis, is seeking a Assistant General Manager to join their team. Ecumen is seeking an energetic, passionate, and skilled leader to serve the Abiitan community.

     

    Abiitan, an entrance deposit community, consists of 77 independent living residences, as well as an additional floor of residences for those requiring memory care and assisted living.

    Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the restaurant in the absence of the General Manager and to otherwise support the General Manager in all facets of running the restaurant. This position is responsible for assiting with managing the food and beverage operations within budget and to the highest level of service. Ensuring excellent levels of internal and external customer service. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for the front of house as it relates to all aspects of food and beverage service.

     

    The primary responsibilities for the Assistant General Manager:

     

    Guest Service:

    1. Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times.
    2. Handles patron complaints promptly and courteously.
    3. Takes a leadership role in cultivating an ‘It’s all about you’ service attitude among the team members.
    4. Works with clients and assists in the planning of special events.

    Supervision:

    1. Schedules staff according to budgeted labor cost and volume of business and monitors accordingly.
    2. Supervises food and beverage service employees in accordance with operating policies.
    3. Understands completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs.
    4. Continually coaches and develops (if necessary) staff to achieve company objectives in guest service, sales, service, and quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness.

    Food and Beverage Operations:

    1. Understands the proper presentation, make up technique, preparation method and desired flavor of all items on the menu.
    2. Oversees weekly purchasing and inventory of all food, beverage, disposables and janitorial supplies.
    3. Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs.
    4. Maintains a clean, orderly and aesthetically pleasing kitchen, dining room, bar area, service area, restroom, patio, entrance and parking lot.
    5. Insures that each person on a special diet is accommodated.
    6. Abides by Food and Beverage License.

    Additional duties include marketing and administrative duties, and other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    This position requires a high school diploma or GED. K nowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least three years of operations positions required.  Certified Food Manager in accordance with MN Department of Health required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record which meets Ecumen Driver Policy standards and proof of vehicle insurance. Must be flexible and adaptable to changing situations including able to work irregular hours, attend meetings and special events.
