The Information Technology Intern will participate in a wide range of initiatives related to data, report writing, software utilization, and IT training development.  This internship will be both educational and practical with an opportunity to learn enterprise resource planning software concepts, data visualization methods, report development, data warehouse concepts, project planning, and technology training development. The Intern will support Business Partners in the roll out, standardization and user adoption of new software features and functionality. This position will provide a good understanding of the role IT plays within a decentralized organization. The Intern will also have opportunities to network with other areas within IT, the finance department, operations, and human resources.


IT and business partner key initiatives include; Data Lake – a data repository and data visualization system, a new communications platform for customers and team members, discovery and project planning toward a new human resource information system, and expanded functionality and utilization of key business and clinical software.


Job responsibilities for the IT Intern position:


  1. Utilize various tools to make data in applications available to business partners.

  2. Develop analytical reports with a data connection to various data sources.

  3. Create IT training materials for casual users and power users.

  4. Utilize cloud software to manage projects and diagram standard business practices.

  5. Assist with implementation and user adoption strategies regarding new functionality within software.

  6. Other duties as assigned.


While participating in the above stated projects, the IT Intern will learn the practical application of:


  1. Researching full functionality from key business applications.

  2. Working with business partners and subject matter experts on the design and format of reports.

  3. Data availability from an enterprise resource planning software and other systems.

  4. Working with IT staff and stake holders to clarify requirements and deliver information that meets those requirements.

  5. Agile concepts applied to project participation.

  6. Promoting information availability within a decentralized organization.


Information Technology Intern

Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Information Technology or Business with an IT emphasis.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications
  • Understanding of Mobile Device Management
  • Understanding of Apple iOS mobile devices
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal skills.
  • Work well, both individually and as part of a team, through respect, collaboration and dedication; and successfully interact with a diverse culture base.
  • Current valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance, if applicable. 



Based on funding from the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America), a candidate must meet the following qualifications: 

  • High school diploma
  • Student must be enrolled in, or graduated from, a Lutheran Educational Conference of North America (LECNA) School, be an active member of an ELCA congregation, or have a connection to the ELCA. For example, participating in a youth program at an ELCA church or attending one of the following listed schools:
    • Concordia University
    • Augsburg College
    • St. Olaf College
    • Gustavus Adolphus College
    • Concordia College, Moorhead
