Rose Senior Living - Carmel seeks an Environmental Manager to join its team. Rose Senior Living - Carmel is developed and owned by Edward Rose & Sons, known for creating amenity-rich communities where people can appreciate comfortable and affordable living in beautiful settings. Partnering with Edward Rose & Sons is Ecumen, a not-for-profit organization that has grown to be one of the most innovative leaders in senior housing and services, empowering individuals to live richer and fuller lives. The Carmel, Indiana, location will consist of 159 units: 69 independent living rental apartment homes, 60 assisted living rental apartment homes and 30 residences for seniors requiring memory care services.


The Environmental Manager is responsible for managing and supervising all maintenance, housekeeping and laundry personnel while maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents and employees. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Performs regular preventative maintenance and repairs as required throughout property.
  • Ensures community property is in compliance with all appropriate regulations including local, state, and federal laws.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining facility programs.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff to meet regulations and established departmental standards.
  • Is responsible for developing and maintaining external vendor relationships for all maintenance, custodial, grounds, and housekeeping and for monitoring all non-medical contractors hired to perform services on the premises.
  • Is responsible for coordinating and training all employees in building safety procedures, including in-service training.
  • Manages inventory control for all supplies used with department and orders supplies as appropriate.
  • Prepares annual budget for Maintenance and Housekeeping departments
  • Other duties as assigned.


This position requires a person who has a High School Diploma or GED and has three to five years related work experience.  A Boilers license is required, if applicable, along with a valid driver’s license and a driving record which meets Driver Policy standards.  All employees must possess the ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal skills; work well, both individually and as part of a team, through respect, collaboration and dedication; and successfully interact with a diverse culture base. The successful candidate must be able to prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently, and demonstrate a positive attitude, high integrity and ethical awareness.
