Overview

Heritage at Irene Woods seeks a Maintenance Tech/Custodian to join its team.  Heritage at Irene Woods is developed and owned by Edward Rose & Sons, known for creating amenity-rich communities where people can appreciate comfortable and affordable living in beautiful settings.  Partnering with Edward Rose & Sons is Ecumen, a not-for-profit organization that has grown to be one of the most innovative leaders in senior housing and services, empowering individuals to live richer and fuller lives.  Heritage at Irene Woods consists of 111 independent living and assisted living rental apartment homes as well as 30 additional residences for seniors requiring memory care services and is located in Memphis, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

 The Maintenance Technician and Custodian is responsible for performing various ground maintenance work such as removing trash from the grounds as well as make ready work.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Apartment make ready work - painting and repairs as needed.
  • Constantly customer focused by providing excellent service, encouraging and respecting customer’s individuality and treating people with dignity and respect.
  • Good steward of time and resources.
  • Knowledge of, observes and follows all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the community including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, Resident’s Rights, OSHA, Universal Precaution, Right to Know, and MSD
  • Responsible for performing various housekeeping duties that require higher skills such as carpet extraction and polishing floors as needed.
  • Identify preventive maintenance activities that need to be performed including checking fire extinguishers and checking emergency lighting systems.
  • Diagnose, repair and service equipment including problems that can arise with plumbing, faucets and other ailments in the resident's area.
  • Perform minor carpentry such as painting, edging, plaster, patching etc.
  • Ensuring that all waste receptacles are emptied daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This position requires a person who has a High School Diploma or GED as well as 2 years of related work experience.  All employees must possess the ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal skills; work well, both individually and as part of a team, through respect, collaboration and dedication; and successfully interact with a diverse culture base. The successful candidate must be able to prioritize and organize work effectively and efficiently, and demonstrate a positive attitude, high integrity and ethical awareness.
